Words of Hope
I wanted to make a page of poems, stories...etc.... that I've come across to help ease the pain of losing Kailee. The first two songs on this page are songs that were played at Kailee's funeral. The first song is What Faith Can Do by Kutless. I heard it one morning driving to work pregnant with Kailee. It gave me such hope for a miracle. I LOVE the verse talking about how impossible is not a word, just a reason for someone not to try. It spoke to me that day, and it still speaks to me everytime I hear it.
The second song is The Valley Song by Jars of Clay. This song was played at one of my friends funerals in May 2009. The words do a good job of explaining how I feel.
What Faith Can Do Lyrics
Everybody falls sometimes
Gotta find the strength to rise
From the ashes and make a new beginning
Anyone can feel the ache
You think it’s more than you can take
But you are stronger, stronger than you know
Don’t you give up now
The sun will soon be shining
You gotta face the clouds
To find the silver lining
I’ve seen dreams that move the mountains
Hope that doesn’t ever end
Even when the sky is falling
And I’ve seen miracles just happen
Silent prayers get answered
Broken hearts become brand new
That’s what faith can do
It doesn’t matter what you’ve heard
Impossible is not a word
It’s just a reason for someone not to try
Everybody’s scared to death
When they decide to take that step
Out on the water
It’ll be alright
Life is so much more
Than what your eyes are seeing
You will find your way
If you keep believing
I’ve seen dreams that move the mountains
Hope that doesn’t ever end
Even when the sky is falling
And I’ve seen miracles just happen
Silent prayers get answered
Broken hearts become brand new
That’s what faith can do
Overcome the odds
You don't have a chance
(That’s what faith can do)
When the world says you can’t
It’ll tell you that you can!
I’ve seen dreams that move the mountains
Hope that doesn’t ever end
Even when the sky is falling
And I’ve seen miracles just happen
Silent prayers get answered
Broken hearts become brand new
That’s what faith can do
That's what faith can do!
Even if you fall sometimes
You will have the strength to rise
The Valley Song
You have led me to the sadness
I have carried this pain
On a back bruised, nearly broken
I'm crying out to you
Chorus
I will sing of Your mercy
That leads me through valleys of sorrow
To rivers of joy
When death like a Gypsy
Comes to steal what I love
I will still look to the heavens
I will still seek your face
But I fear you aren't listening
Because there are no words
Just the stillness and the hunger
For a faith that assures
Chorus x2
Alleluia, alleluia
Alleluia, alleluia
While we wait for rescue
With our eyes tightly shut
Face to the ground using our hands
To cover the fatal cut
And though the pain is an ocean
Tossing us around, around, around
You have calmed greater waters
Higher mountains have come down
Chorus
Yeah
Alleluia, alleluia
Alleluia, alleluia
Alleluia, alleluia alleluia, alleluia
Alleluia, alleluia alleluia, alleluia
Chorus (4 Xs)
Oh, Lord sing of Your mercy,
Mercy
Your mercy
The following is a poem which was on Kailee's funeral program.
Ask My Parents How They Are
My parents, they tell a lot of lies.
They never did before.
But from now until the day they die,
They’ll tell a whole lot more.
Ask my parents how they are
And because they can’t explain,
They will tell a little lie
Because they can’t describe the pain.
Ask my parents how they are
They say “We’re alright.”
If that’s the truth, then tell me
Why do they cry each night?
Ask my parents how they are
They seem to cope so well.
They didn’t have a choice, you see,
Nor the strength to yell.
Ask my parents how they are.
“I’m fine, I’m well, I’m coping.”
They just won’t tell the truth you see,
Just say your heart is broken.
They’ll love me all their life,
I loved them all of mine.
But if you ask them how they are,
They’ll lie and say they’re fine.
I am here in heaven.
I cannot hug from here.
If they lie to you, don’t listen.
Hug them and hold them near.
On the day we meet again,
We’ll smile and I’ll be bold.
I’ll say “You’re lucky to get in here mom and dad,
With all those lies you told!”
"My Mom is a Survivor"
My Mom is a survivor,
or so I've heard it said.
But I can hear her crying at night
when all others are in bed.
I watch her lay awake at night
and go to hold her hand.
She doesn't know I'm with her
to help her understand.
But like the sands on the beach
that never wash away ...
I watch over my surviving Mom
who thinks of me each day.
She wears a smile for others ...
a smile of disguise!
But through Heaven's door
I see tears flowing from her eyes.
My Mom tries to cope with death;
To keep my memory alive.
But anyone who knows her knows
it is her way to survive.
as I watch over my surviving Mom
through Heaven's open door ...
I try to tell her that angels
protect me forevermore!
I know that doesn't help her,
or ease the burden she bears.
So, if you get a chance, go visit her.
Show her that you care.
for no matter what she says ...
no matter what she feels.
My surviving Mom has a broken heart
that time won't ever heal.

My Dad is a Survivor
My dad is a survivor too
which is no surprise to me.
He's always been like a lighthouse
that helps you cross a stormy sea.
But, I walk with my dad each day
to lift him when he's down.
I wipe the tears he hides from others;
He cries when no one's around.
I watch him sit up late at night
with my picture in his hand.
He cries as he tries to grieve alone,
and wishes he could understand.
My dad is like a tower of strength.
He's the greatest of them all!
But, there are times when he needs to cry...
Please be there when he falls.
Hold his hand or pat his shoulder...
And tell him it's okay.
Be his strength when he's sad,
Help him mourn in his own way.
Now, as I watch over my precious dad
from the Heavens up above...
I'm so proud that he's a survivor...
And, I can still feel his love.
A Dad's Grief
It must be very difficult
to be a man in grief
since men don't cry and men are strong
no tears can bring relief.
It must be very difficult
to stand up to the test
and take the calls and visitors
so she can get some rest
They always ask if she's all right
and what she's going through
but seldom take his hand and ask
"My friend, but how are you?"
He hears her crying in the night
and thinks his heart will break
he dries her tears and comforts her
but stays strong for her sake
It must be very difficult to start each day anew
and try to be so very brave
He lost his baby too.
